Adoption Process
Education:
The first step in the adoption process is to read about
how to care for a Pug and the
Top Reasons Not to Adopt a Pug. It is important that everyone in your household understands the special care requirements of a Pug in addition to what all dogs need to lead
a healthy and happy life.
Application:
After deciding that you can't live without a Pug, fill out our
Application. Within a few days, we will send out an email
letting you know if any are puppies available, or when our next breeding is planned and when we expect to have puppies available (A healthy margin of error obviously applies to forcasted breedings).
We may also contact you with if we have further questions not covered in your application.
Deposits:
If, puppies are available at time of your application and you wish to reserve a puppy, we require a $200 non-refundable deposit. If after visiting to pick your puppy, you feel that the quality is not what you expected, the deposit can be applied to a puppy from a future litter within two years. The deposit money is refundable only in the event that something happens out of our control and we are unable to provide you with a puppy. Deposits will be handled on a first come first serve basis; the first deposit received will have first pick and so on.
Visits & Pickups:
Generally, when the litter reaches 5 - 6 weeks of age, we will start allowing visits which will be scheduled a few weeks in advance. Between 8 and 9 weeks of age the puppies are usually ready to move into their new homes. When you come for your puppy, we will spend some time going over care information, paperwork and the contract so please allow yourself at least half an hour for this. Also, the final balance must be cash, money order, or bank drawn check.
Updates:
Every week, and whenever requested (within reason), we will send out or post a few pictures and an update on the puppies. The puppies will be vaccinated at 8 weeks of age and examined by my veterinarian prior to going home. Puppies are also de-wormed at 4, 6, and 8 weeks. A history of their vaccination and worming schedule will be included in your puppy pack. During the last week, pick up dates and times will be set.
Pictures:
We also ask for a few pictures of your new baby's development -- Fun pictures are always welcome and we plan on putting a few pages up to feature them. Pictures featuring profile and frontal views at 6 months and 1 year will help us with our future breeding decisions and help others get an idea of how their puppy will turn out. We obviously welcome more pictures, but understand your busy schedule. If you don't wish for your picture to be posted on our website, please let us know and you can be certain that we will respect your wishes.
